The RN7 is the most famous and longest national road in Madagascar that start from Antananarivo to end in Tulear. During this tour, you will meet at least six different main tribes of Madagascar. Experience the incredible diversity of the Island. You will learn various culture and tradition. Enjoy magnificent landscape that change in every 100 km and finish it with relax in the beach of the southwest of Madagascar before heading back to the capital.

Itineraries

DAY 1

Antananarivo – Antsirabe

Welcoming and greet then pick you up from your hotel and drive to Antsirabe. Stop at Ambatolampy for a short visit of workshop wich works on different kitchen ustensil made from aluminium recycling. Continuation to Antsirabe. It is a famous city for its thermal pools which are rich in healing properties that attracts tourists and locals due to its cool climate and location. Capital of rickshaws and beer (THB the local beer). On arrival, visit of the city then hotel check in. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 2

Antsirabe – Ranomafana National Park

Morning drive from Antsirabe to reach Ranomafana National Park. Spectacular scenery awaits your look throughout the road, the ricefields in terrace along the hills and traditional houses of the Betsileo tribe. Stop at Ambositra the center of Malagasy craft to visit some whorkshop of marquettery and woodcarvings of the Zafimaniry tribe and buy some souvenir. After lunch, continuation until destination. Upon arrival, hotel check-in before a nightwalk with a local guide along de road outside the park to spot some nocturnal lemurs, frogs and different genus of chameleons etc… Then go back to the hotel. Diner and overnight.

DAY 3

Ranomafana National Park

Morning hike at Ranomafana National Park with a local guide to explore the nature and see some species of lemurs, reptiles and birds. This park has twelve species of lemurs and high number of endemic birds, reptiles and amphibians. After the hike, back to the hotel for lunch and afternoon at leisure. Possibility to swim at the thermal pool near the village. Dinner and overnight. Possibility to extend the stay here if you want to have more time to explore the park.

DAY 4

Ranomafana National Park – Tsaranoro valley

Leave Ranomafana National Park to reach Tsaranoro Valley passing through Fianarantsoa, the capital of the Betsileo tribe well known for being invincible. Continuation to Ambalavao, a beautiful town where is the biggest zebu market in Madagascar. Stop for visit of workshops of silkweaver and the Antemoro paper. Then lunch and continuation to destination. Upon arrival, hotel check in, dinner and overnight. Possibility to extend this itinerary to Andringitra NP for trekking lovers. DAY 5

Tsaranoro valley

Trekking at Andringitra NP to conquer the mont Cameleon, enter the corridors of Tsaranoro among the huge blocks and a luxurious vegetation. Picnic lunch inside the park then go back to the hotel. Dinner and overnight. Possibility to extend the stay here. DAY 6

Tsaranoro valley – Ranohira

Departure to Isalo National Park via Ihosy the capital of the Bara tribe where we will have lunch. Drive througout the Ihorombe plateau. A landscape of a grassy plains will amaze you. Upon arrival, hotel check-in. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 7

Ranohira

Full day excursion at Isalo National Park to see different landscape of the massif and reach the canyon and forest of Namaza, enjoy the natural swimming pool and waterfall inside the massif. The walk takes about 6 hours then will have picnic lunch inside the park. Then drive back to the hotel. In the afternoon, sunset at the window of Isalo. Dinner and overnight. Possibility to extend the stay here if you want to have more days to explore the park.

DAY 8

Ranohira – Ifaty

Morning drive from Isalo National Park to join Ifaty via Ilakaka the saphir town and Tulear through the desert landscape and see by the way some Mahafaly tombs with their totems carved from Aloalo on the road. On arrival, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.

DAY 9

Ifaty

After breakfast, ride a zebu cart to Reniala reserve wich composed mostly with spiny forest, baobabs and succulent. Enjoy different amazing shapes of the Baobab, see the two species of tortoise endemic of Madagascar and different species of birds… Then go back to the hotel, afternoon free to enjoy the beautiful lagoon and relax. DAY 10

Ifaty

Day at leisure. Optionnal activities are available at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 11

Ifaty – Fianarantsoa

Leave Ifaty and drive back to Fianarantsoa. Stop for lunch at Ranohira village, then continuation to Anja park for a short visit to see some groupe of ringtailed lemurs. Continuation to destination. Upon arrival, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight.

DAY 12

Fianarantsoa – Antananarivo

Morning drive from Fianarantsoa to join Antsirabe. Lunch en route. Upon arrival, hotel check-in, dinner and overnight. END OF THE PROGRAM
